About Biuron
Biuron is a research lab studying how the most capable computer we know, the brain, actually works, and building technology in its image. We are one institution, five programs, and a single idea of intelligence.
The mission
The brain is the most capable computer we know. Biuron studies how it works and builds technology in its image: intelligence that learns from the world, adapts to it, and grows sharper with every problem it meets, put to work everywhere from markets to medicine.
The name
Biuron is a contraction of biology and neuron, the two ends of the thread we follow. We began with a conviction that the field treats as a metaphor and we take as engineering guidance: that biological intelligence is a working blueprint, not a poetic comparison.
So we built one lab where a neuroscientist, a machine-learning researcher, and a cell biologist could work on the same question from different sides. Five programs grew out of that: markets, reasoning, living systems, neural computation, and scientific discovery. They look unrelated. They are not.
What we believe
We study biological intelligence as an existence proof and take its mechanisms seriously as engineering guidance, not as decoration.
Markets, cells, cortex, and matter are different surfaces of the same question. We move ideas across them deliberately.
Theory and deployment are not separate worlds. Every measurement trains the model; every prediction sets the next experiment.
Knowledge compounds fastest in the open. We share our results and our reasoning, not just our conclusions.
A demo is not a system. We value work that survives contact with the real world over work that impresses in a slide.
The problems worth our time take years. We are building an institution patient enough to see them through.
